The house draws its eaux-de-vie from vineyards across the Charente.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eVSOP sits a step above VS in the Martell range, blended from eaux-de-vie with a minimum of four years in cask. The colour is a warm copper with gold glints, and the nose opens on ripe yellow fruits such as mirabelle plum, greengage, apricot and vine peach. The palate is round and balanced, with dried fruit and cream giving way to soft baking spice, toasted oak and a gentle peppery lift on the finish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMartell is the only major cognac house to double distil exclusively clear wines, removing the lees before distillation to keep the fruit aromatics bright and the spirit fine.
