Ambra Spirits Distillery is based in Thebarton, in the heart of Adelaide, South Australia. The brand began in 1998 as Australia's original limoncello producer, built on an Italian family recipe carried across generations and inspired by the Amalfi Coast. The distillery still works with locally grown South Australian citrus across its range of liqueurs.
This is a citrus-forward triple sec with a natural orange hue rather than an artificial tint. Bright orange peel leads, with hibiscus lending a floral, slightly tart edge and a touch of szechuan pepper bringing a lively tingle to the finish. The nose is juicy and fresh with a faint herbaceous lift, and there is no trace of synthetic flavouring.
Made in small batches at the Thebarton distillery using real citrus peel and botanicals rather than orange essence. It is built to sit in classic cocktails such as the margarita, sidecar and cosmopolitan, where the hibiscus and pepper give it more aromatic complexity than a standard triple sec.
