The Amrut in Bangalore call themselves the pioneers of Indian single malt whisky. They’ve been making whisky from barley since 1982, when most Indian distillers were still using molasses. They make a selection of peated and non-peated whiskies, all with the unique tastes of India. Their name translates to “Elixir of Life,” and they became famous when whisky connoisseur Jim Murray gave their whisky a rating of 82/100 in 2005. In 2010, Murray went on the name Amrut Fusion single malt whisky as the third best in the world.
