The 2012 Pomerol Cask is a limited edition, rare cask-finished, cask strength (54.2% ABV), and non-chill-filtered Irish single malt whiskey, meticulously distilled, matured, finished, and bottled at the world's oldest licensed whiskey distillery.

In close proximity to the distillery, the Giant’s Causeway has been a source of inspiration for centuries. Its remarkable hexagonal columns form a sequence of steps, analogous to the distinct expressions within this collection. This 2012 single malt represents a bold innovation for Bushmills, paying homage not only to the giants and generations past but also to the unparalleled natural landscape where it is crafted.

Following over six years of maturation in oloroso sherry butts and bourbon barrels, Master Blender Alex Thomas has further refined this exquisite whiskey by finishing it in rare Pomerol wine casks.

Pomerol, the smallest of the major Bordeaux wine appellations, produces some of the world’s most expensive and sought-after red wines, characterized by intense yet refined aromas of ripe wild dark berries. Unlike others who may recask their whiskey for a mere six months, an additional four-year maturation in Pomerol casks has imparted deeper, more complex layers of flavor.

The resulting single malt is warm and mellow, with notes of ginger complemented by the fresher flavors of crisp green apple and lemon zest. It is a sensational whiskey that holds its own among the finest Irish single malts, a true giant in its category.
