Calabria Family Wines is a fourth-generation family winery in the Riverina region of New South Wales, founded in 1945 by Italian immigrants Francesco and Elizabeth Calabria and still proudly family-owned today. The Belena label is a tribute to Bill and Lena Calabria, named in honour of their enduring partnership and the family's eight-decade contribution to Australian wine.
This Moscato pours a pale, bright straw colour and lifts a generous aromatic of orange blossom, honeyed apricot, ripe peach and zesty citrus. The palate is light-bodied and gently sweet, with lemon sherbet, tropical fruits and nectarine running through a soft, frothy pétillance that keeps everything fresh rather than cloying.
Served well chilled, it pairs beautifully with summer fruit platters, light pastries, soft cheeses and spicier Asian dishes that benefit from a touch of natural sweetness to balance the heat. Equally lovely as an easy, breezy aperitif on the back deck after a warm day.
