Darkness 14 Year Old Port Charlotte Pedro Ximenez Whisky 500ml

The Port Charlotte Distillery hasn't produced a drop in almost 100 years but the brand is thriving once again as the peated cousin to Bruichladdich.

PORT CHARLOTTE - The liquid is actually 15 Years Old. The original cask already gave good colour from its years resting in a refill sherry butt, the bunch at Darkness Whisky took it to the next level with 3 x PX octaves. Giving this deep PC an extra 6 months of maturation.

The result? Dark amber to the eye, the nose is malty with wafts of cocoa and red currants. Salty seaweed and old leather are also there. The palate reveals sweet dried fruits, earthen peat smoke, with hints of salt and pepper crisps and oily oak. The finish is lingering coastal bonfire with tarry smoke and earthen baking spice.
