Darkness 29 Year Old Cambus Oloroso Finish Single Grain Whisky Whisky 500ml
Darkness 29 Year Old Cambus Oloroso Finish Single Grain Whisky Whisky 500ml
The Darkness bottlings are a collection of intensely sherried whiskies, with every release undergoing their signature 6 months extra maturation in sherried octave casks. This results in an unparalleled richness and depth of flavour. The Darkness label of independent bottlings is an independent bottler of sherry-finished whiskies from Atom Brands, the company also behind That Boutique-y Whisky Company, Character Of Islay and Drinks By The Dram.
Built in 1806 and converted from a malt to a grain distillery in 1836, Cambus was in it's heyday DCL's (Diageo) grain whisky crown-jewel. When it was producing whisky, Cambus was held in extremely high regard; even being used as the poster-child for grain whisky in the 'What is whisky trials' in the early 1900s. During a production reorganisation in 1993 Cambus was sadly mothballed; now serving as a cooperage for owner Diageo. During its life Cambus was heavily utilised for blending purposes; very rarely being released as a single grain whisky, such as with the 40-Year-Old released as part of Diageo's 2016 Special Releases.
