Mount Gilboa Plantation/Distillery was established in 1703 and took on the Mount Gay name after plantation owner John Sober dedicated the company name after Sir John Gay Allyn, the manager of Mount Gilboa Plantation/Distillery, in honour of business management and community leadership after his passing in 1801. Mount Gay Eclipse Rum is a 37.5% ABV dark rum that is aged in charred Kentucky oak barrels, producing a moderately sweet rum that is alive with characters of banana, apricot and vanilla with a light smokiness driven by the Kentucky oak barrels.
