Stroh Jagertree 1L
Stroh Jagertree 1L
The Austrian strong rum known as "Stroh" has an interesting history of creation. In ancient times, the creators of "Shtro" rum faced a challenge as they did not have access to sugar cane, which is traditionally used in rum production. However, they ingeniously used a mixture of herbs and natural dyes as an alternative. This change proved to be successful and the rum received a Gold Medal for its original recipe at the 1900 Paris exhibition.
Today, "Shtro" rum is made from sugar cane and undergoes a three-year aging process in oak barrels. Due to its high alcohol content, pure "Shtro" is not commonly consumed. Instead, it is primarily used as an ingredient in alcoholic cocktails. Additionally, the long-standing tradition of using rum in confectionery, desserts, and various cakes continues.
Rum "Stroh" is a source of pride for Austrians and is often referred to as the "national rum." It is particularly enjoyed during cold weather as "Shtro" Yagerte ("Jagertee"), a warm drink, and during summer, it is recommended to be consumed chilled.
