Amstel traces its roots to 1870, when a brewery was founded on the Mauritskade in Amsterdam and named after the river Amstel, whose cold waters were used to chill the beer. The first Amstel was delivered in 1872, and within a decade the brewery was already exporting abroad. Today it remains one of the Netherlands' best-known beers.
Amstel Premium Lager is a pale, bottom-fermented lager brewed from barley malt, select European hops and lager yeast. Its gentle honeyed malt aroma is lifted by a light citrus note and a subtle herbal hop character.
Crisp and easygoing on the palate, it finishes clean and refreshing, making it an ideal choice for warm days, barbecues and casual get-togethers. Serve well chilled.
