Bols Cornewyn Genever 1L
Bols Cornewyn Genever 1L
Corenwyn is an alternative spelling of the commonly known 'kirenwijn', which is a specialty high-malt Genever. The term 'corenwyn' signifies 'grain wine' and emphasizes the significant proportion of malt wine (minimum 51%) utilized in the blend. Only Bols has the privilege to utilize Corenwyn as a brand name, as it was initially created by Lucas Bols himself in 1575. During that time, the term was exclusively used for the utmost refined grain distillations. Presently, the spirit is distilled using copper pot stills in a four-stage process, where the last stage involves the spirit passing over juniper berries to extract its flavors and aromas. After being aged for two years in oak casks, Corenwyn acquires a pale gold color and develops a nutty, slightly fruity characteristic, which makes it an excellent choice as an aperitif or as a complement to cold dishes, particularly seafood. Corenwyn continues to be packaged in traditional handmade stone jars.
