Bols Jonge Jenever comes from Lucas Bols, widely recognised as the world's oldest distilled spirits brand, with a heritage stretching back to 1575. Jenever is the traditional Dutch forerunner of gin, a juniper-led grain spirit that became so beloved it was once hailed as Holland's national drink.
The term "jonge", meaning young, refers to a style rather than any period of ageing. Developed to be lighter and more contemporary than the older "oude" style, jonge jenever uses a limited proportion of malt wine, giving it a cleaner and more delicate profile. It is twice distilled from grain and infused with botanicals including juniper, angelica root, aniseed and ginger.
The result is light, smooth and subtly aromatic, with a gentle juniper character and soft notes of citrus and herbs. Its versatility makes it a natural choice for classic cocktails as well as the traditional Dutch serve, poured chilled and enjoyed neat.
