Bowmore is one of Islay's oldest distilleries, and this 22 Year Old is a luxurious expression from the island's celebrated single malt house. Part of Bowmore's Appellations Collection, it has been finished in casks sourced from some of Bordeaux's finest estates, marrying the distillery's signature maritime peat with the honeyed richness of Sauternes dessert wine.
More than two decades of maturation give the whisky remarkable depth and poise. The nose opens with gentle heathery peat, citrus zest and intensely sweet honeycomb, alongside white peach, apricot and vanilla. The palate is layered and generous, offering green grape, baked apple, cinnamon and candied ginger over concentrated honey and orchard fruit.
The finish is decadent and long, weaving runny honey, butterscotch and vanilla with a gentle wisp of smoke and lingering spice. Complex, elegant and beautifully balanced, it is a single malt for savouring slowly.
