Caol Ila ("Cull Eela") is the largest producer of Scotch Whisky on Islay though the majority of its production ends up in Johnnie Walker and other blends. It is their single malts however that are the reason they are so loved on the island. Literally aged within meters of the Sound of Islay, Caol Ila 12 Year Old is a light and refreshing dram that fills the mouth but doesn't overburden the palate. Medium bodied it drinks well at natural strength with a flavour full of oily tar, boiled sweets and an elegant touch of smoke.
