The Orchard House is a fruit-forward blended malt Scotch whisky from Compass Box, the London-based house celebrated for its creative and transparent approach to blending. Crafted by whiskymaker James Saxon, it is built around malt whiskies hand-selected at their optimal maturity and matured largely in first-fill bourbon barrels, which lend a gentle honeyed sweetness and a light touch of oak. The result is a bright, spirit-driven style that puts orchard fruit firmly at the centre.
The whisky pours a pale golden colour and opens with crisp, vibrant aromas of red apple and pear, layered with pineapple, citrus zest and a delicate note of Earl Grey tea. The palate is lively and malt-forward, with warming ginger giving way to honey, wild strawberries and buttery vanilla shortbread, all carried on a soft, faintly oily texture. It closes long and fresh, with honeyed vanilla, lingering fruit and a final flourish of gentle spice.
Best enjoyed neat to appreciate its freshness and vibrancy, or served over ice for a rounder, more syrupy texture. It also makes an easy-going companion to a crisp pale ale or pilsner, or to a plate of your favourite cheeses.
