Coopers Dark Ale is one of South Australia's enduring classics, a richly flavoured dark ale brewed and bottle-conditioned by the family-owned Coopers Brewery in Adelaide. Built on an all-malt grist that includes roasted and chocolate malts, it's naturally fermented in the can to deliver the distinctive Coopers character.
It pours a deep ruby to mahogany with attractive garnet highlights and a creamy tan head with good retention. The aroma is layered with chocolate, coffee and gentle floral notes, while the palate carries dark toasted malt, cocoa, hints of vanilla and a soft fruitiness that flows through the back end.
The mouthfeel is generous but not heavy, with moderate carbonation and just enough hop bitterness to keep things balanced into a clean, dry finish that lingers on coffee and roasted malt.
