Darkness 17 Year Old Caol Ila Oloroso Finish Peated Single Malt Whisky 500ml

Caol Ila has sneakily become the most productive distillery on Islay with its unusual process of filling its stills to about one-third capacity producing a light spirit that contributes generously to the Johnnie Walker blends.

A single Caol Ila cask was finished in a single oloroso octave producing just 113 bottles to be enjoyed worldwide. The nose is crisp orchard fruit with fresh pears and green apples followed by dense, earthy tea, spicy anise, and peat smoke. The palate is oily with earthy ash and vegetal peat. Sweeter notes of burnt caramel and dark currants mingle with smoked meat and cracked black pepper. The finish is lingering with drying oak and smouldering embers.
