Heaps Normal built its name on non-alcoholic beer, and High Hopes is the brand's first move into non-alcoholic wine. It is a Brut style sparkling made in the mould of Prosecco, aimed squarely at the occasions where a beer does not quite fit.
It pours pale lemon with a fine, persistent bead. The nose is fresh and lifted, all citrus peel, lemon sorbet and green apple.
The palate starts bright and crisp before opening into apple and pear, with delicate lemon blossom and jasmine florals coming through behind. A creamy acidity carries it to a dry finish, which is what keeps it drinking like a proper sparkling rather than a soft drink. Serve it well chilled in a wine glass.
