Ichiro's Malt Mizunara Wood Reserve Japanese Pure Malt Whisky 700ml

This blended "pure malt" whisky comprises malt whisky vatted from Chichibu, and potentially, from the now-silent Hanyu distillery, once owned by Ichiro's family. Finished in Japanese Mizunara oak barrels, it enables connoisseurs to appreciate the distinctive influence of the world-renowned oak.

The maturation process for this whisky was exclusively conducted in Mizunara wood, a Japanese oak known for its notorious difficulty in working and lengthy preparation times. Mizunara oak trees can require up to 200 years to achieve a usable size, while the wood itself is challenging to bend and shape without cracking or breaking.

Consequently, whisky matured in Mizunara oak is often regarded as more luxurious compared to those matured in bourbon or sherry wood, and the expressions produced through this method are highly coveted in the current market.
