Yes, that's French for Shiraz. Basically its name is a reference to the wine's style. More perfumed, smooth and sophisticated than a full-on fruit bomb. More earthy white pepper than hardcore spice. But you know what? Que sera sera, syrah... Smells of back pepper, cherries, tar and roses, tastes like cherry compote and mocha, with soft tannins. Winemaking: vineyards just outside of Healesville, mostly, plus some fruit from the upper Yarra that gave it just the right dose of peppery spice. 60% hand-picked Yarra Valley fruit; cold soak 3 days; harvested February-March 2016; 30% whole bunches used to bring the perfume of the fruit. Matured for 9 months in French oak, with natural malolactic fermentation occurring; zero fining and filtration; vegan friendly. Drink now or cellar up to 5 years but why wait?
