Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch #13 is a Campbeltown single malt distilled at the Glengyle distillery, the smallest of the region's working distilleries and run by the family behind neighbouring Springbank. The heavily peated series showcases a smokier side of Glengyle's spirit, and this thirteenth release continues that tradition as a limited small-batch bottling.
Matured predominantly in ex-bourbon casks with a smaller proportion of sherry casks, it is bottled at natural cask strength, without chill filtration and with no added colour. The result is a robust, characterful whisky that stays true to Campbeltown's rugged, coastal style.
Creamy butterscotch leads on the nose, joined by ripe banana and a lift of elderflower. The palate carries assertive peat smoke woven through honeydew melon and a savoury, cured edge, while the finish lingers with wood smoke, honeycomb and a herbal note of verbena.
