Lienert Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml
Lienert Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml
Lienert Estate's latest release boasts yet another captivating label, featuring striking green locusts reminiscent of the past when Cabernet first began its journey at Lienert. To truly appreciate its finest qualities, it is advisable to either decant it for an extended period or cellar it for some time.
In bygone years, Cabernet was initially planted at the Lienert vineyards. Unfortunately, a devastating locust infestation wreaked havoc, leading to the frustration-driven decision to bulldoze all the vines. However, many years later, a solitary vine was discovered struggling to survive, intertwined with an olive tree. Cuttings were taken from this resilient vine, resulting in the establishment of a new vineyard. And now, we have the pleasure of savoring the first wine produced from these remarkable plantings.
This wine possesses a considerable and luscious character, but patience is key. It takes time to fully reveal its flavors, gradually unveiling notes of blackcurrant pastilles, blackcurrant paste, licorice jelly beans, accompanied by hints of prunes and stewed fruit. Mint and dried herbs dance subtly on the palate, overshadowed by the warmth and baked fruit sensations. As more air embraces the wine, the essence of peppered steak emerges with added intensity. The firm and drying tannins leave a gripping sensation, encouraging the need for patience to tame this captivating beast.
