Malibu is the original Caribbean coconut rum liqueur, created in 1978 and built on rum from Barbados blended with natural coconut flavour and pure cane sugar. It was conceived as a shortcut to a good pina colada, and the idea stuck.
The style is soft, sweet and unmistakable: creamy toasted coconut on the nose, a light and easy palate, and a smooth, gently tropical finish. There is nothing challenging about it, which is precisely the point.
Pour it over ice with pineapple juice, top it with cola or lemonade, or use it as the backbone of a pina colada or Malibu Bay Breeze. It is also a reliable partner for coffee and chocolate-based drinks.
