Michter's US 1 Unblended American Whiskey is a non-bourbon of exceptional quality. It would be a top shelf bourbon if the lawyers hadn't gotten involved. Aged in second fill whiskey-soaked barrels that formerly held bourbon it can't be called bourbon. Confused yet? Don't worry about it. Just know that you will have a very hard time finding a better sipping whiskey no matter what name they put on it. Rich and creamy it is bursting with notes of golden syrup, butterscotch, and sultanas with peaches and sweet apples joining the fray at the end.
