Murphy's Irish Stout hails from Cork, Ireland's Rebel County, where James J. Murphy founded the Lady's Well Brewery in 1856. Still brewed to a recipe more than 160 years old, it is a classic dry Irish stout.
Brewed from malted and roasted barley, it uses a nitrogen widget in the can to recreate the smooth, creamy pour of a draught stout on tap. It pours jet black beneath a thick, creamy head.
Smooth and creamy with a subtle bitterness, Murphy's shows notes of roasted malt, milk chocolate, mild coffee and caramel, carried by a silky, low-carbonation mouthfeel and a smooth chocolatey finish. Lighter and less bitter than many stouts, it is an easy-drinking introduction to the style. For the best pour, chill well and pour in one smooth motion into a pint glass.
