Bin 128 is the cool-climate companion to Penfolds' warmer-region Shiraz wines, sourced entirely from Coonawarra in South Australia's far south east. The region's famous terra rossa soils and maritime influence give this Shiraz a more medium-bodied, elegant and spicy expression of the variety.
Fragrant and lifted, it offers red and dark berry fruit, cracked pepper, savoury spice and floral top notes. The palate is refined and supple, with fine-grained tannins, bright acidity and a fresh, lingering finish. Unusually for a Penfolds Shiraz, Bin 128 is matured in French oak, which enhances its perfume and finesse.
A graceful, food-friendly red that stands as a benchmark for Coonawarra Shiraz.
