Pike & Joyce is a family-owned winery in the Adelaide Hills, founded in 2007 as a collaboration between the Pike and Joyce families. Their Séparé Grüner Veltliner takes its name from the French word for "separate", a nod to the wine being drawn from two distinct parcels of fruit grown across their cool Lenswood vineyard sites.
Grüner Veltliner is Austria's signature white grape, prized for its peppery lift and dry, food-friendly character, and the Adelaide Hills has emerged as one of its best Australian homes. This expression is fermented in stainless steel and bottled early to preserve freshness, giving a wine of brisk, varietal-true character. Expect a fragrant nose of green pear, citrus zest and the trademark Grüner whiff of white pepper and rocket leaf, then a crisp, dry palate with soft mid-palate fruit, gentle phenolic grip and a refreshing finish.
A natural pairing with oysters, sashimi, prawn dishes, herbed roast chicken, pork schnitzel, or salads built around green vegetables and fresh herbs. Serve well-chilled.
