Pike & Joyce is a family-owned winery in the Adelaide Hills, founded in 2007 as a collaboration between the Pike and Joyce families. The Vue du Nord Pinot Noir takes its name from a north-facing vineyard block at the higher, cooler elevations of the property at Lenswood, where the gentle ripening conditions produce wines of finesse and structure.
The wine is built from a blend of five Pinot Noir clones, each fermented separately by block and clone before being assembled after maturation. The bouquet is fragrant and inviting, layering ripe strawberry and red cherry with raspberry, forest floor and subtle savoury spice from gently charry French oak. The palate is silky and supple, framed by fine tannin and balanced acidity that carry through to a long, savoury finish.
Drinks beautifully now alongside duck breast, roasted mushrooms, char-grilled salmon or a board of soft cheeses, and has the structure to reward five to seven years of careful cellaring.
