Located in Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco, Mexico, Siete Leguas drew inspiration from the revolutionary figure Pancho Villa and his legendary horse, which traversed "7 Leguas" or 21 miles. Among Villa's many admirers was Don Ignacio Gonzalez Vargas, who, in homage, named his tequila after the famed horse. Presently, the Gonzalez de Anda family, comprised of seven members, diligently upholds Don Ignacio Gonzalez Vargas’ legacy, adhering to traditional tequila production methods. Siete Leguas remains one of the oldest Mexican distilleries, steadfastly family-owned and operated.
