Speyburn Rum Cask Finish is a distinctive Speyside single malt from the Speyburn Distillery, set in the wooded glen of the River Lossie at Rothes in the heart of Scotland's whisky country. Drawing on more than a century of distilling know-how, it carries the bright, fruity character that has long defined the Speyburn style.
The spirit is first matured in bourbon casks before being finished in Caribbean rum casks, a double maturation that layers tropical sweetness and soft spice over the whisky's naturally fresh fruitiness. The nose opens with tropical fruit, green apple, citrus and a hint of caramelised banana, while the palate follows with buttery pastry, ripe peach, soft caramel and gentle cinnamon, all carried along by fresh vanilla.
The finish is fruity and lightly spiced, with a lingering sweetness of vanilla. It makes for an approachable, easy-going dram, lovely on its own and equally at home over ice.
