Watou Tripel comes from St. Bernardus, the renowned abbey-style brewery in the village of Watou in West Flanders, Belgium. It is a traditional top-fermented abbey beer brewed in the classic tripel style, and it is a distinct beer from the brewery's better-known St. Bernardus Tripel.
It pours golden blonde beneath a creamy white head. The nose offers a refreshing, apricot-like fruitiness set against a delicate vanilla perfume. On the palate it is velvety and soft, with honeyed sweetness from the malt and lovely touches of orange carrying through to the finish.
Serve at 4 to 8°C. Watou Tripel works beautifully with grilled vegetables, barbecued and marinated meats, cured ham and mild washed-rind or local farmhouse cheeses.
