Czech Dark Lager is a Speciality Release from Mornington Peninsula's TWØBAYS Brewing, the Bohemian-style dunkel reimagined as a sessionable, naturally gluten-free lager. The brewery uses millet and rice in place of barley to keep the body light, while still chasing the depth and heritage of a proper Czech dark lager.
Pouring a deep mahogany with a creamy off-white head, it leads with aromas of toasted bread crust, roasted nuts and gentle caramel. The palate carries dark chocolate, nougat and toasty malt without ever turning sweet, finishing dry and cleanly bittered with classic Saaz hop character lifting the back end.
It's a thoughtful take on a traditional style, designed for drinkers who want the complexity of a dark lager without the heaviness, and an excellent option for anyone seeking a flavoursome gluten-free beer.
