Yeringberg Shiraz 2013 750ml

Shiraz is somewhat of a saga at Yeringberg…it’s been planted four times and pulled out twice by the same family!

• Planted in the 1860s by Federic-Guilluame
• Pulled out by George in 1921
• Replanted by Guill in 1970, and pulled by Guill in 1982
• Replanted by David in 1999
• More new plantings and clones in 2020 on rootstocks

As always, the grapes were handpicked and carefully sorted. Ferments were in five small tanks, and treated differently ie fully destemmed and crushed; whole berries; whole bunches under destemmed fruit. Total skin contact time ranged from 10-19 days. Average 11% whole bunch.The wine was matured in hogsheads (28% new) for 18 months with several racking’s to gradually clarify and remove sediment. - Sandra de Pury
