Bumbu Rum is a craft rum from Barbados, blended at the historic West Indies Rum Distillery from rums sourced across eight Caribbean and South American countries. The recipe leans on the very best of the region's sugar cane and uses a proprietary yeast strain dating back to 1840, with select rums in the blend aged up to fifteen years in first-fill Kentucky bourbon barrels before bottling.
In the glass it shows a rich maple-syrup amber, with a generous nose of Madagascan vanilla, soft caramel, toasted oak and warm baking spice. The palate is full and rounded, layering brown sugar and vanilla with cinnamon, allspice and roasted nuts, before a smooth, gently sweet finish carries lingering ginger spice and a fine, balanced warmth.
The distinctive embossed apothecary bottle and rope-tied cork stopper sit beautifully on a back bar. Drink neat, over a large rock, or as a serious upgrade in a Dark and Stormy, Mai Tai or classic rum Old Fashioned.
