Glendronach 21 Year Pedro Ximenez & Oloroso Single Malt Whisky 700ml
Glendronach 21 Year Pedro Ximenez & Oloroso Single Malt Whisky 700ml
The rook is a bird native to the British Isles and Northern Europe, similar in appearance to a crow or raven. A group of rooks is called 'a parliament'. For almost 200 years a parliament of rooks have nested in and around the Glendronach warehouses and kept a watchful eye over the whisky as it slowly matures in some of the best ex-sherry casks in the world. The distillery folk believe that as long as the rooks remain the whisky will turn out just fine.
Glendronach named their 21 year old expression 'Parliament' in honour of these ever present rooks.
Matured in a combination of Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez casks, Parliament is bottled at a robust 48% ABV. Polished amber to the eye, the nose brings a delicate mix of autumnal fruits including blackberries and red plums. Oat biscuits are there with a hint of spice and candied orange. The Oloroso cask really kicks in on the palate with fine sherry, bitter chocolate and plum pudding infused with cinnamon, all spice and nutmeg. The finish is long and lingering like you would expect from a 21 year old Glendronach. The best yet in our month long Glendronach feature.
So if the collective noun for a group of rooks is a parliament what is the collective noun for whisky drinkers?
A stagger?
A lush?
A bevy?
