Ledaig Hebridean Moon is the first cask strength 10 year old single malt ever released under the Ledaig name, the peated expression of Tobermory Distillery, the only whisky distillery on the Isle of Mull. The release takes its inspiration from Mull's ancient standing stones, believed to have been used to track the movements of the moon.
It was crafted from the very first spirit drawn from the distillery's new stills, installed in 2014, and matured for over a decade in second-fill bourbon casks. Bottled at cask strength, it delivers a bigger, more intense take on the peated character of the core Ledaig 10 Year Old.
Expect a peat-packed, salt-laced dram with layers of smoke, candied fruit, toasted oak and warm spice, softened by notes of vanilla and a touch of double cream.
The packaging features moonlit photography of Mull by wildlife photographer and island native Gordon Buchanan, and the release was created in partnership with the Mull and Iona Community Trust to support its work protecting and restoring the island's environment.
