Coffey stills have been renowned for ages for their ability to distil complex and mellow whiskies while retaining the natural sweetness that is found in the grains used to produce the mash, they are feed. Unfortunately, they are also grossly inefficient compared to the modern distillation techniques used by most companies today. Nikka thankfully isn't concerned with that. Instead, they are dedicated to producing the finest whisky available. Imported from Scotland in 1963 their Coffey stills produce a grain whisky, primarily from corn that once aged 8-12 years is reminiscent of carnival candy with cinnamon and vanilla added.

Great easy drinking Japanese whisky

Excellent value for money. The Nikka Coffey Malt and Coffey Grain always have a place on my shelf. They are my go-to when you want a delicious juicy dram but are not in the mood for a smokey or peaty whisky.
Of the two, it's really close but I think the Coffey Malt is my favourite.

My favourite

This was one of the first quality whiskeys I came across early into my journey. Vanilla and rainer cherry compote on the nose. Nice nip on the taste buds with a burst of dried fruit. Lingering sweet finish. Still impressive and favourite to this day.
