Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old Cask Strength 2025 Edition is a limited release of the distillery's much-loved unpeated Islay single malt, bottled straight from the cask without dilution. Inspired by the experience of tasting whisky directly from the cask at the distillery, this edition is presented as layered and balanced rather than overpowering, with a delicate sherry influence that never dominates the spirit. It comes presented with a gift box.
Bunnahabhain sits on the Sound of Islay as the most northerly distillery on the island, and it could only be reached by boat until 1960. Its pear-shaped stills are the tallest on Islay, and their long swan necks help produce a lighter, more delicate spirit that sets it apart from the island's smokier neighbours.
The 2025 Edition was matured entirely in the distillery's coastal warehouses in a mix of Oloroso sherry casks, mostly second fill, with first fill and refill casks adding further depth. Golden raisins and apricots on the nose are balanced by toasted nuts and a light floral touch. The palate brings malty sweetness, soft oak and dried fruit with sultanas, hazelnuts and gentle spice, leading to a finish of oak spice and light tobacco with hints of sea salt and cocoa powder. It is non-chill filtered with no added colour, keeping its natural deep gold hue.
