Chimay 150 is a Trappist strong blonde ale brewed at Scourmont Abbey in Belgium, under the supervision of the monks, with most of the proceeds directed to social causes. First released in 2012 as a limited edition to mark the brewery's 150th anniversary, it proved so popular that it became a permanent part of the range, the first new permanent Chimay beer in more than half a century. It is recognised by its green label.
It pours a clear, light blonde beneath a creamy head. The aroma is fresh and complex, with mint, bergamot, lime and eucalyptus alongside delicate rosemary and clove, lifted by a floral note and a touch of fresh ginger, plus the subtle spicy character typical of Chimay.
Refreshing and fruity yet full of strength, it finishes with a refined, lingering elegance. Serve at 6 to 8°C in a chalice to make the most of its aromatics.
