Gouden Carolus Whisky Infused comes from Het Anker, the historic brewery in the Great Beguinage of Mechelen, Belgium, whose brewing roots stretch back to the 15th century. Run by the same family for five generations, Het Anker also operates its own distillery, producing Gouden Carolus Single Malt whisky.
This beer brings both crafts together. The brewery's Gouden Carolus Imperial Dark, the Cuvée van de Keizer, is infused with its own Gouden Carolus Single Malt. Top-fermented, lagered for three weeks and brewed exclusively with Belgian hops, it pours a dark ruby red.
The nose shows vanilla, wood, smoke and caramel, and the palate is powerful and full-bodied, with subtle notes of vanilla, oak and chocolate. Serve at 10 to 12°C, ideally alongside desserts built around chocolate and vanilla.
