Delirium Red is a Belgian cherry fruit beer from Brouwerij Huyghe, the family-run brewery in Melle, East Flanders, that has been brewing since 1906 and is best known for its pink elephant and Delirium Tremens. Built on that celebrated Delirium base, it adds a generous dose of cherry character.
It pours a deep, dark red with a compact light pink head that laces the glass. The aroma is soft and fruity, with hints of almond and mildly sour cherries.
The palate is sweet and fruity with a well-judged balance of sweet and sour, making it, in the brewery's own words, an excellent dessert beer. Try it with chocolate desserts, cheesecake or a cheese board.
